## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

### 一、Overview

- Scrape Apple App Store and iOS app reviews from multiple apps and countries by App ID or URL.
- Export structured JSON with rating, title, content, version, and country—built for sentiment analysis, competitor monitoring, ASO research, and uncovering product opportunities.

### 二、Input

- `app_ids`: App Store application IDs. Every App ID is combined with every value in `countries`.
- `countries`: Country codes used with `app_ids`. The default is `["us"]`.
- `urls`: App Store application URLs. Use this mode without `app_ids`; the Actor extracts the App ID and country from each URL and ignores `countries`.
- `limit`: Maximum reviews returned for each App/country combination. The run spending limit still caps the total.

Provide at least one `app_ids` or `urls` value. If both are provided, `app_ids` takes precedence.

#### App IDs and countries mode

The following input creates four targets: each of the two apps in both the US and Japan. Each target can return up to 100 reviews (up to 400 total, subject to the run spending limit).

```json
{
  "app_ids": ["6448311069", "284882215"],
  "countries": ["us", "jp"],
  "limit": 100
}
```

#### URLs mode

The country is taken from each URL (`us` and `jp` below); the `countries` field is not used.

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/chatgpt/id6448311069",
    "https://apps.apple.com/jp/app/google/id284815942"
  ],
  "limit": 500
}
```

### 三、Output

The default dataset contains one object per review. `app_id` and `country` identify the source target, so records from different apps and storefronts share the same structure.

```json
[
  {
    "app_id": "6448311069",
    "country": "us",
    "id": "13288066270",
    "user_uri": "https://itunes.apple.com/us/reviews/id199760004",
    "user_name": "Example",
    "user_label": "",
    "title": "Trash",
    "content": "Example...",
    "rating": "1",
    "version": "1.2025.281",
    "date": "2025-10-19T12:24:01-07:00",
    "link": "https://itunes.apple.com/us/review?id=6448311069&type=Purple%20Software"
  }
]
```

# Actor input Schema

## `app_ids` (type: `array`):

App Store application IDs. When provided, reviews are collected for every App ID and selected country combination. This mode takes precedence over URLs.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Countries used with app\_ids. Each App ID is combined with every selected country. Ignored when only urls are supplied.

## `urls` (type: `array`):

App Store application URLs. Use this mode without app\_ids; the App ID and country are extracted from each URL, and countries is ignored.

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Maximum reviews returned for each App/country combination. The user's maximum run charge still caps the total across all combinations.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "app_ids": [],
  "countries": [
    "us"
  ],
  "urls": [],
  "limit": 100
}
```

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("cloudcharlestom/appstore-reviews-event-actor").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
