Search and download EPA Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) data from the Envirofacts API. Covers ~23,000 facilities that release toxic chemicals, with annual release amounts by medium (air, water, underground, land).

Choose 'facilities' to list TRI reporting facilities (filterable by state/SIC), or 'releases' to get annual chemical release quantities (filterable by year/state/chemical).

## `states` (type: `array`):

Two-letter state abbreviations to filter by (e.g. \["TX", "CA"]). Leave empty to fetch all states (facilities mode only; in releases mode all available national data is fetched then filtered).

## `year` (type: `integer`):

TRI reporting year to fetch (releases mode only). Defaults to 2022.

## `chemicalName` (type: `string`):

Case-insensitive substring filter applied to the chemical name (releases mode). E.g. 'lead' matches 'LEAD', 'LEAD COMPOUNDS', etc.

## `sicCode` (type: `string`):

Filter facilities by SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) code prefix (facilities mode). E.g. '28' matches all chemical manufacturers.

## `maxRecords` (type: `integer`):

Maximum total records to return across all pages/states. 0 = no limit.
