## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## TikTok Followers & Following Scraper

Extract public follower or following profile lists from TikTok profiles. Each successful relationship row includes the username, display name, bio, avatar, verification flag, follower/following counts, secure user ID, source profile, list type, and profile URL.

### What is distinct

The owned TikTok User Scraper and TikTok Scraper return source-profile statistics and content. They do not return the accounts in a profile's follower or following list. This Actor is dedicated to that relationship-list extraction use case.

### Input

- `profiles`: handles, profile URLs, or numeric TikTok user IDs.
- `listType`: `following` (default), `followers`, or `both`.
- `maxItemsPerProfile`: per-source cap from 1 to 1,000.
- `maxRunSeconds`: hard 10 to 180 second run deadline.
- `fallbackToProxy`: optional opt-in retry through the supplied Apify proxy configuration after a direct failure.

Direct HTTP is attempted first through a public keyless relay. No login, cookies, or API key are required for public data. Residential proxy use is not enabled by default because the live following smoke succeeded directly. TikTok may expose followers less consistently than following lists; the Actor reports a diagnostic row and does not charge when a list cannot be obtained.

### Output

One dataset row per successful relationship profile:

```json
{
  "ok": true,
  "type": "relationship_profile",
  "uniqueId": "tiktokcreators",
  "nickname": "tiktok creators",
  "followerCount": 8538100,
  "followingCount": 568,
  "sourceProfile": "@tiktok",
  "listType": "following",
  "profileUrl": "https://www.tiktok.com/@tiktok"
}
```

Empty input returns one labeled sample row and makes no request or charge. Diagnostic, blocked, and no-result rows are never charged. A successful row is charged once using the `profile` event.

### Pricing

Live pricing is **$0.00035 per successful relationship profile**, or **$0.35 per 1,000 results**. It is below the lowest observed comparable at $0.40 per 1,000 and retained a positive measured margin on the direct HTTP cloud path. Empty, sample, and diagnostic rows are never charged.

### Responsible use

This Actor only requests public relationship data exposed by the relay. Do not use it to collect private account data, bypass access controls, or violate TikTok terms or applicable privacy law.

### Billing

Two charges apply: a **$0.001 run-start fee** each time a run begins, and the per-result fee for results actually delivered. Samples, diagnostics, duplicates, blocked look-ups and no-result runs **never incur the per-result fee** — a run that returns nothing costs only the $0.001 start fee.

# Actor input Schema

## `profiles` (type: `array`):

Public TikTok usernames, @handles, profile URLs, or numeric user IDs whose follower or following list should be extracted.

## `listType` (type: `string`):

Choose followers, following, or both. TikTok may expose following more consistently than followers for some public accounts.

## `maxItemsPerProfile` (type: `integer`):

Maximum relationship profiles returned per source profile and list type. Lower this for a quick, low-cost sample.

## `maxRunSeconds` (type: `integer`):

Hard wall-clock deadline for the run. The actor stops pagination and returns collected rows before this limit.

## `fallbackToProxy` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, retry a direct BLOCKED or transient target failure through the supplied Apify proxy configuration. Direct HTTP is used first.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional Apify proxy settings used only when fallbackToProxy is enabled; residential groups can be selected for blocked public endpoints.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "profiles": [
    "tiktok",
    "nba"
  ],
  "listType": "following",
  "maxItemsPerProfile": 100,
  "maxRunSeconds": 90,
  "fallbackToProxy": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `dataset` (type: `string`):

One row per public follower or following profile; diagnostic and empty-input rows are never charged.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "profiles": [
        "tiktok"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("dami_studio/tiktok-followers-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
