## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## TikTok Direct Video Metadata Scraper Lite

Extract public metadata from known TikTok video URLs.

Use it when you already have TikTok video links and want structured rows with caption, author, public counts, media metadata, and timestamps.

### What you get

Each successful video row can include:

- TikTok video URL
- video ID
- caption text
- author profile fields
- play, like, comment, share, and save counts
- creation time
- hashtags and mentions
- music metadata
- cover image URLs
- TikTok-provided video URLs when visible
- structured error details for invalid, deleted, private, or unavailable videos

### Quick start

```json
{
  "postURLs": [
    "https://www.tiktok.com/@apifyoffice/video/7200360993149553925"
  ],
  "shouldDownloadVideos": false,
  "shouldDownloadCovers": false
}
```

### Input fields

- `postURLs` — direct TikTok video URLs. This is the main required input.
- `shouldDownloadVideos` — download discovered public video files to the run key-value store when possible.
- `shouldDownloadCovers` — download cover images to the run key-value store when possible.
- `downloadSubtitlesOptions` — subtitle download setting when subtitle URLs are available.

### Output

The Actor saves one dataset row per video, plus error rows for URLs that cannot be processed.

### Limits

This Actor is direct-video only. It does not search TikTok, scrape profiles, scrape hashtag feeds, collect comments, log in, use user cookies, bypass CAPTCHA, or access private data.

# Actor input Schema

## `postURLs` (type: `array`):

One or more public TikTok video URLs to scrape. Example: https://www.tiktok.com/@apifyoffice/video/7200360993149553925

## `shouldDownloadVideos` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, the Actor attempts to download the discovered TikTok video file immediately and stores it in the selected Apify key-value store, then emits stable Apify storage links in mediaUrls. This may increase runtime and storage cost.

## `shouldDownloadCovers` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, the Actor attempts to download video cover images to the selected Apify key-value store and emits stable Apify storage links in mediaUrls.

## `downloadSubtitlesOptions` (type: `string`):

Controls handling of TikTok-provided subtitle metadata when available.

## `videoKvStoreIdOrName` (type: `string`):

Optional key-value store ID or name for downloaded videos/covers/subtitles. Omit to use the default run key-value store.

## `scrapeRelatedVideos` (type: `boolean`):

Not supported in this lite Actor. Leave off.

## `maxCommentsPerVideoForInternalTest` (type: `integer`):

Optional small cap for testing comment extraction helpers. This Actor is not a comments scraper.

## `profileUrlsForInternalTest` (type: `array`):

Optional public profile URLs for testing profile metadata helpers. This Actor does not scrape profile feeds.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "postURLs": [
        "https://www.tiktok.com/@apifyoffice/video/7200360993149553925"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("itayekk1/tiktok-video-scraper-lite").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
