## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## Dice Jobs Scraper — Tech & IT Job Listings Data (No API Key)

Scrape Dice.com tech job listings into clean, structured data — no API key, no login, bulk, pay per result. This Dice jobs scraper turns any Dice.com search into a developer jobs dataset with the fields buyers need: job title, company, location, salary, employment type, remote flag, visa sponsorship signal, posted date, and the job URL. Built for developers, recruiters, market analysts, and AI pipelines that need IT job listings and tech jobs data without maintaining a scraper.

Under the hood it uses Chrome TLS impersonation, residential US proxies, and automatic session rotation to clear anti-bot walls — so you don't manage proxies, logins, or CAPTCHAs.

### ⚡ Quick start

Paste this into the Actor's **Input** (JSON view) and hit **Start**:

```json
{
  "searchQuery": "data engineer",
  "includeRemote": true,
  "maxResults": 40
}
```

Each result row looks like:

```json
{
  "title": "Data Engineer",
  "company": "TEKsystems",
  "location": "Austin, TX",
  "salary": "$120,000 - $150,000",
  "employmentType": "Full-time",
  "remote": true,
  "willingToSponsor": false,
  "postedDate": "2026-07-08T13:24:00Z",
  "url": "https://www.dice.com/job-detail/8f3a2c1e-4b6d-4e9a-9c2f-7d5b1a0e6f38"
}
```

Or run it from the API:

```
POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/jamhimself~dice-jobs-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN
```

### What you get

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `title` | Job title |
| `company` | Hiring company |
| `location` / `city` / `state` | Location |
| `salary` / `salaryFrom` | Salary text and a numeric floor when parseable |
| `employmentType` / `employerType` | Full-time / contract; direct hire / recruiter |
| `remote` | Work-from-home availability |
| `willingToSponsor` | Visa sponsorship signal |
| `easyApply` | Dice Easy Apply |
| `postedDate` / `modifiedDate` | Timestamps |
| `url` | Dice job detail page |

- **Dataset building** — export tech jobs data to CSV or JSON for analytics.
- **Feeding an LLM / RAG pipeline** — supply structured job data to AI agents and matching tools.
- **Contract vs. direct-hire analysis** — segment listings by employer type and easy-apply availability.

### Input

- **searchQuery** — job title or keywords, e.g. `python developer`, `devops engineer`, `data scientist`.
- **includeRemote** — include remote/work-from-home listings (default on).
