## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## GovMint Scraper

Scrape coin and precious-metals product listings from [GovMint.com](https://www.govmint.com/) — one of the largest collectible-coin and bullion retailers in the US. Search any term and get clean, structured JSON.

### What it extracts

For each product on the search results grid:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `title` | Full product title |
| `metal` | Gold / Silver / Platinum / Palladium / Copper (derived from title) |
| `productType` | Coin, Set, Bar, Round, Roll, Note or Bullion |
| `flag` | Merchandising flag on the card (e.g. "Bullion") |
| `year` | Coin year (derived from title) |
| `mint` | Mint / mint mark (Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco, West Point, Carson City, …) |
| `grade` | Numismatic grade (BU, Proof, MS70, PR69DCAM, XF, …) |
| `price` | Current price (USD) |
| `msrp` | Original / crossed-out price when shown |
| `onSale` | True when `price` < `msrp` |
| `availability` | InStock / OutOfStock |
| `inStock` | Boolean convenience flag |
| `image` | Product image URL |
| `url` | Product page URL |
| `searchQuery` | The query that produced the row |
| `scrapedAt` | ISO timestamp |

### Input

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["silver eagle", "morgan dollar"],
  "metal": "Any",
  "productType": "Any",
  "maxResults": 100,
  "minPrice": null,
  "maxPrice": null,
  "inStockOnly": false
}
```

- **searchQueries** — one or more search terms (e.g. `silver eagle`, `morgan dollar`, `gold buffalo`, `proof set`).
- **metal / productType** — optional client-side filters.
- **minPrice / maxPrice** — optional price range (USD).
- **inStockOnly** — drop out-of-stock products.
- **maxResults** — cap per query.

### How it works

GovMint runs on Magento with fully server-rendered search pages, so the actor fetches the search results HTML directly (no proxy required) and parses the product grid. On curated category landing pages it also reads the embedded `schema.org` `ItemList` JSON-LD to confirm price and availability.

### Output

Results are pushed to the default dataset — export as JSON, CSV, Excel or via the API.

### Disclaimer

For research and personal use. Respect GovMint's Terms of Service. Prices and availability change frequently; always verify on the source site before transacting.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Search terms to look up on GovMint (e.g. 'silver eagle', 'morgan dollar', 'gold buffalo', 'proof set'). Leave empty to use the default.

## `metal` (type: `string`):

Filter results by metal (derived from the product title).

## `productType` (type: `string`):

Filter results by product type (derived from the title/flag).

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of products to scrape per query (each grid page returns up to 24).

## `minPrice` (type: `number`):

Filter: only return products at or above this price (USD).

## `maxPrice` (type: `number`):

Filter: only return products at or below this price (USD).

## `inStockOnly` (type: `boolean`):

Only return products that are currently in stock.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. GovMint works without proxies (Magento server-rendered search returns 200 to a plain browser UA).

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [
    "silver eagle"
  ],
  "metal": "Any",
  "productType": "Any",
  "maxResults": 100,
  "inStockOnly": false,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "searchQueries": [
        "silver eagle"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("lulzasaur/govmint-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
