## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Star City Games Scraper — MTG Singles Prices

Scrape [Star City Games](https://starcitygames.com) (starcitygames.com), one of the largest Magic: The Gathering singles retailers, for real-time retail pricing and inventory.

Give it card names and get back every matching printing with its condition-level price, finish, set, rarity, collector number and live stock quantity — a distinct MTG retail-price signal alongside TCGPlayer, Cardmarket and Card Kingdom.

### What it does

- Searches Star City Games' catalog for each card name you provide
- Pulls data directly from the site's open HawkSearch catalog API (fast JSON, no browser)
- Paginates automatically up to your `maxListings` limit
- Returns one row per printing/variant with per-condition pricing

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|-------|------|-------------|
| `searchQueries` | array of strings | Card names to search, e.g. `["ragavan", "black lotus"]` |
| `maxListings` | integer | Max printings to return per query (0 = unlimited). Default 100. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | Optional. API is open, so a proxy is usually not needed. |

#### Example

```json
{
    "searchQueries": ["ragavan", "black lotus"],
    "maxListings": 100
}
```

### Output

Each dataset item represents one card printing:

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `productId` | Star City Games product id |
| `sku` | Product SKU (e.g. `SGL-MTG-MH2-138-ENN`) |
| `name` | Card name |
| `setName` | Set / edition |
| `rarity` | Rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Mythic Rare, …) |
| `collectorNumber` | Collector number |
| `finish` | Finish (Foil / Non-foil) |
| `foil` | Boolean — true if a foil printing |
| `language` | Card language |
| `cardType` | Card type line |
| `manaCost`, `manaValue`, `colorIdentity`, `artist` | Card metadata |
| `conditions` | Array of `{ condition, language, price, onSale, salePrice, qtyAvailable, sku }` |
| `lowestPrice` | Lowest in-stock price across conditions |
| `totalQtyAvailable` | Total units in stock |
| `inStock` | Boolean |
| `imageUrl` | Card image |
| `url` | Product page URL |
| `searchQuery` | The query that produced this row |
| `source` | Always `starcitygames.com` |
| `scrapedAt` | ISO timestamp |

### Notes

- Star City Games typically lists one condition per SKU (Near Mint or Played), so most rows have a single entry in `conditions`.
- Prices are USD.
- This is an unofficial scraper and is not affiliated with Star City Games. Respect their Terms of Service and use responsibly.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

Card names to search on Star City Games (e.g. 'ragavan', 'black lotus', 'sol ring'). Each query returns matching Magic: The Gathering singles with per-condition retail prices, finish, set, rarity and stock.

## `maxListings` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of card printings to return per search query (0 = unlimited). The HawkSearch API returns up to 96 results per page and the scraper paginates automatically.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings. Star City Games' HawkSearch API is open and returns JSON directly, so a proxy is usually not needed. Enable Apify Proxy only if you hit rate limits.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [
    "ragavan"
  ],
  "maxListings": 100,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```
