## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## SteelBook Blu-ray Scraper

Scrape collectible steelbook releases from [SteelBookBluRay.com](https://www.steelbookbluray.com/) — the leading steelbook news and database site.

### What does this scraper do?

This scraper extracts steelbook release listings from SteelBookBluRay.com, a WordPress-based site covering collectible steelbook packaging for 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray discs.

For each release, you get:

- **Title** and publication date
- **Categories** (4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, Arrow, Horror, Sci-Fi, etc.)
- **Format** detection (4K Ultra HD or Blu-ray)
- **Region** detection (UK or US releases)
- **Studio** detection (Arrow, Disney, Warner, etc.)
- **Cover image** (full resolution)
- **Excerpt** from the listing page

With detail scraping enabled, you also get:

- **Full post content** (descriptions, specs, extra features)
- **All images** from the post (front/back covers, interior shots)
- **Retailer links** (Zavvi, Amazon, HMV, Best Buy, etc.)
- **Community rating** and vote count

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `searchQueries` | string\[] | `["marvel"]` | Search terms. Leave empty to browse all recent releases. |
| `maxListings` | integer | `50` | Maximum number of listings to return (max 1000). |
| `scrapeDetails` | boolean | `false` | Visit individual post pages for full content and retailer links. |
| `category` | string | `""` | Filter by category: `4k-ultra-hd`, `blu-ray`, `arrow`, `horror`, `sci-fi`, `uk-releases`, `us-releases`. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | — | Optional proxy settings. |

### Output

Each result contains:

```json
{
    "postId": "26181",
    "title": "Marvel's \"The Fantastic Four: First Steps\" is getting a great looking UK 4K Steelbook release in October",
    "categories": ["4k-ultra-hd", "action", "marvel", "sci-fi", "uk-releases"],
    "format": "4K Ultra HD",
    "region": "UK",
    "studio": null,
    "publishedDate": "2025-09-22 23:58:47",
    "author": "steelbook admin",
    "excerpt": "While the film wasn't the box office hit that Marvel no doubt hoped it would be...",
    "imageUrl": "https://www.steelbookbluray.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/ff_1.jpg",
    "images": ["https://www.steelbookbluray.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/ff_1.jpg"],
    "commentsCount": 0,
    "content": null,
    "retailerLinks": [],
    "rating": null,
    "ratingVotes": null,
    "sourceUrl": "https://www.steelbookbluray.com/marvels-the-fantastic-four-first-steps-is-getting-a-great-looking-uk-4k-steelbook-release-in-october/",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-04-26T00:00:00.000Z"
}
```

When `scrapeDetails` is enabled, `content`, `retailerLinks`, `rating`, `ratingVotes`, and `images` are populated from the detail page.

### Use cases

- **Collectors**: Track new steelbook releases by format, region, or genre
- **Resellers**: Monitor upcoming releases for pre-order opportunities
- **Price trackers**: Build a database of steelbook releases with retailer links
- **Data analysis**: Analyze release trends across studios, formats, and regions

### Tips

- Start with `scrapeDetails: false` for fast listing scrapes
- Use `category: "4k-ultra-hd"` to filter to 4K releases only
- Enable `scrapeDetails: true` to get retailer pre-order links and full descriptions
- The site has ~10 releases per page, so `maxListings: 100` scrapes ~10 pages
