## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Kraken Crypto Ticker Scraper 🐙📈

Scrape **live Kraken ticker data** for any crypto trading pair — **price, bid/ask spread, 24h volume, VWAP, 24h high/low, open price and 24h change %** — as clean, structured JSON. No API key, no login, datacenter-proxy friendly, and fast.

Perfect for **crypto trading bots, price monitoring, portfolio tracking and market dashboards**.

***

### ✨ What it does

Give it a list of Kraken pairs (e.g. `XBTUSD`, `ETHUSD`, `SOLUSD`) and it returns one clean ticker snapshot per pair, straight from Kraken's official public API. Leave the pair list empty and it scrapes **every tradable pair** on the exchange (capped by *Max items*).

Kraken renames pairs internally (`XBTUSD` → `XXBTZUSD`), so the scraper maps results by Kraken's normalized keys — you always get the exact market Kraken matched.

### 💡 Use cases

- **Crypto trading bots** — feed live bid/ask and last price into automated strategies.
- **Price monitoring & alerts** — poll pairs on a schedule and trigger notifications on moves.
- **Trading bots & signals** — build spread, VWAP and momentum signals.
- **Portfolio tracking** — value holdings with real-time market prices.

### 🔧 Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|-------|------|-------------|
| `mode` | select | Scraping mode. Currently `ticker` (live market snapshot per pair). |
| `pairs` | array | Kraken pairs to scrape, e.g. `XBTUSD`, `ETHUSD`, `SOLUSD`. Empty = **all** tradable pairs. |
| `maxItems` | integer | Max ticker items to return (default `500`, max `5000`). |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "mode": "ticker",
  "pairs": ["XBTUSD", "ETHUSD", "SOLUSD"],
  "maxItems": 500
}
```

### 📤 Output

One dataset item per pair:

```json
{
  "pair": "XXBTZUSD",
  "ask": 65310.4,
  "bid": 65310.3,
  "last_price": 65310.4,
  "volume_24h": 2073.71806112,
  "vwap_24h": 64825.9822,
  "trades_24h": 64665,
  "low_24h": 63691.6,
  "high_24h": 65757.0,
  "open_price": 64678.1,
  "change_pct": 0.98,
  "source": "kraken",
  "scraped_at": "2026-07-20T21:00:00+00:00"
}
```

All numeric fields are coerced to numbers and every field is nullable — a partial upstream payload still yields a usable item.

### 💰 Pricing

Pay-as-you-go, roughly **~$0.50 per 1,000 ticker items** in platform usage. A single run can pull the entire Kraken market in seconds. Cheap enough to poll on a tight schedule.

### ❓ FAQ

**Do I need a Kraken API key?** No. It uses Kraken's public REST endpoints.

**Which pairs are supported?** Every pair Kraken lists. Use Kraken names (`XBTUSD` for Bitcoin/USD). Leave `pairs` empty to fetch them all.

**How fresh is the data?** Real-time — each item is a live snapshot with a `scraped_at` timestamp.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Scraping mode. 'ticker' fetches a live market snapshot (price, bid/ask, 24h volume, high/low) for each requested trading pair.

## `pairs` (type: `array`):

Kraken trading pairs to scrape, e.g. XBTUSD, ETHUSD, SOLUSD. Kraken auto-normalizes names (XBTUSD becomes XXBTZUSD). Leave empty to fetch ALL tradable pairs (large, capped by Max items).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of ticker items to return (one item per pair). Protects against huge runs when scraping all pairs.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "mode": "ticker",
  "pairs": [
    "XBTUSD",
    "ETHUSD",
    "SOLUSD"
  ],
  "maxItems": 500
}
```
