Account suspended after compromise – over one month waiting for support (#4492711)

Hello everyone,

I understand that GitHub Community cannot review suspended accounts or escalate support tickets, and that is not what I'm asking for.

I'm trying to understand whether anyone has experienced a similar situation.

My GitHub account (ceroideas) was compromised. I secured the account immediately after detecting the compromise, but it was subsequently suspended by GitHub during the security review.

I opened support ticket #4492711 more than a month ago, submitted all requested ownership information, opened another support ticket, followed up several times by email, and also contacted GitHub through X.

Since then, I have not received any response from a GitHub support engineer or any update regarding my case.

I fully understand that security reviews can take time, but more than a month without any update makes it impossible to know whether my case is still being processed or has simply been overlooked.

The suspension is now preventing me from accessing several production services that authenticate through GitHub, including my paid Supabase organization. Fortunately, Supabase has been incredibly helpful and has tried to assist me, but they cannot recover my account because only GitHub can resolve the suspension.

Has anyone experienced a similar waiting time?

If your account was eventually restored, how long did it take, and was there anything you did that helped bring attention to your case?

I'm simply trying to understand whether this is a normal experience or whether there is another legitimate communication channel that I may have missed.

I'm sorry that you have to experience this. It can be upsetting to lose access to your account, particularly if it has an impact on production services.
As far as I can see, security related account recovery may at times be a longer process than originally thought. You've already provided the information, responded to your ticket and sent a message on X so I'd probably not open another ticket.
Hopefully someone from GitHub Support reads your post and can at least let you know that your case is still being looked at. Hopefully you'll get your account back! Best of luck!

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it.
You're probably right that opening more tickets won't help, so I'll continue following up on my existing case.
My main concern is simply the lack of any update after more than a month. Even a confirmation that the case is still under review would make a huge difference.
Hopefully someone from GitHub Support will see this discussion.
