Algorithm Control
Algorithm control refers to two concepts: technical control algorithms used in engineering and automations, and algorithmic control for management, where digital systems influence human behavior or labor (AI Overview).
We today as a society must accept technology, digitalization and social media , yet do we as individuals really understand the conscious and sub-conscious effects on ourselves of the algorithm? There are many positives from the world’s digitalization that affect everyday life. Yet, we seem to accept technology, digitalization and social media without really knowing how it used to affect our behavior, thinking and views on life. We also have the development of false information in social media, that many of us cannot distinguish as real or irreal. The question to be asked is if any of us take the time to see how algorithms function and how they affect our conscious and sub-conscious existence? Also, what will be the effects on society as a whole, if we run our lives based on technology, and social media…will we as humans be able to construct our own opinions, our own thought patterns, our own way of analyzing things?

The more we turn over our lives day-by-day to technology, without questioning the source of algorithms and their effect on our minds, this could slowly lead to greater behavior control.
If technology continues at the pace it has, then we will be using tools doing everything for us, and we may lose the ability to think for ourselves. Maybe finally machines will do all our thinking, and tell us how to think. Maybe we will not be allowed an opinion. Technology is important, but we must as individuals examine the effect of technology on our well-being and our minds.
