Treating Rust as a “Proof of Work” signal romanticizes human toil while missing the actual paradigm shift.First, “Don’t reinvent; use the maintained thing” is terrible advice when “the maintained thing” is a 30-year-old C/C++ library held together by FFI duct tape. The real unlock of AI + Rust is the ability to clean-room reconstruct the entire foundational stack—scientific computing, media, GIS, formal verification—in 100% Pure Rust (zero C/C++ FFI) at the scale of tens of millions of lines. Second, Rust isn’t “expensive” for AI unless your pipeline is primitive. Python is only cheap at Day 1; its verification cost scales to infinity. When you pair AI with strict compiler guarantees, zero-warning enforcement, and formal verification, Rust isn’t a costly signal of human effort—it’s the only language that removes the human bottleneck entirely.
