Winter rain
A haiku
winter rain —
jingle of car keys
the dog hides
—
The poem turns a rainy day into a small comedic drama, letting the jingle of keys become an oddly ominous cue. Instead of eager excitement, the dog’s sudden retreat adds a gentle twist, as though he’s decided that winter weather and car rides are strictly optional. It’s a moment where hesitation becomes charming, brightening the grey with a wry, familiar smile.
