How To Punch the IRS Penalty Pig In The Gut
Finally back in the office after the New Year in Vegas.
Pulling transcripts for clients.
Checking status on cases.
And while I’m digging through numbers this morning, I see something getting fatter in the corner…
Penalty Pig.
Yesterday I introduced you to this Tax Underworld villain.
Here’s the bad news: there isn’t just one Penalty Pig.
There are millions.
They:
- Feed off taxpayers’ wallets until they hit full capacity
- Get hungrier with every year of unfiled returns
- Multiply the longer you wait to deal with your problem
But Penalty Pig has weaknesses.
Weakness #1: First Time Abatement
This is my favorite move.
Think of First Time Abatement like a clean gut punch that makes Penalty Pig cough up:
- All the failure-to-file and/or failure-to-pay penalties
- For that first qualifying year
If you’ve got a generally clean history and meet certain rules, we can sometimes wipe out an entire year’s worth of penalties in one shot.

That’s not magic.
That’s using the IRS’s own manual against their own monster.
Weakness #2: Cut Off His Food Supply
Penalty Pig eats two main “foods”:
- Failure-to-file penalties
- Failure-to-pay penalties
We can starve him on the first one immediately by:
- Filing those old, unfiled tax returns
- Stopping new failure-to-file penalties from piling up
- Getting you compliant so we can focus on real relief instead of digging the hole deeper
File = no more failure-to-file penalties going forward.
Keep ignoring = more food for the Pig.
If you want to:
- See how big your Penalty Pig has gotten
- Find out if First Time Abatement applies to you
- And start cutting off his food supply
Your next step is simple:
👉 Schedule a Tax Debt Triage / Transcript Review call.
On that call we’ll:
- Pull your IRS transcripts
- Break down how much is tax vs penalties vs interest
- See if we can land a First Time Abatement punch
- Map out which returns to file first to stop the bleeding

Penalty Pig’s whole job is to get fat off your indecision.
My job is to make him spit it back up.
Still fighting in the Tax Underworld,

P.S. Most people have no idea how much of their balance is actually penalties until we pull the transcripts. Sometimes the fastest “savings” isn’t a fancy program… it’s just hitting Penalty Pig in his weak spots.
