Good morning from below, such a fine fate.
What is there left to waste?
I gave as much as it takes
before the potential slipped away.
But I’ve been stagnant, standing in place.

If it’s true, is it true?
Watching light turn to blue,
then a darker hue.
Since Persephone left,
I let my hounds run loose.
At least, that’s how the story goes.

I’ve been going through life making enemies.
They think my habits are my mistakes.
Yeah, we’re different, but we can still relate.
If you won’t listen,
then feel the ground beneath you shake.

Mother, I’ve been making enemies as of late.
They want my head for thinking differently.
Is it so wrong to go against the grain?
We shared bread with nothing to waste,
but they cast me out when I had something to say.

Mother, they’ve been calling me a monster as of late.
I tried to reach heaven’s gates,
but there’s no place for me
among pearl and ivory
in my black leather cape.

If I have to die to find paradise,
then I don’t want it at all.
They told me lies my whole life.
I’ll settle for the dirt rather than the golden gates.
I’ll settle for the villain rather than the hero who hesitates.

Hear my voice.
Hear me serenade.
