A Beautiful Life
Stars, paper boats and lost hopes . An elegy exploring the bittersweet awakening into adulthood , reality , and the fading of childhood wonder.
I loved the moon when my stars were held hostage
I drew little paper boats and floated them down
In hopes that they wouldn’t drown in that dark river
But I was too young to realise that
The stars had disappeared so that the moon could shine against the dark night

That the ivory paper boats would sink under the weight of the sacrifices that soaked its hull
And that maybe , we gave so much for so little in this world
But isn’t that why we call life ‘beautiful’?

Hi! it’s my first post on Medium , didn’t mean to start it off on such a gloomy tone , but i figured this could be a good space to share some of the pieces that have been sitting in my old android’s notes.
the perspective? someone who’s just stepping into adulthood. i know that feeling all too well.
I used to write poetry pieces quite frequently , but then stopped for a while. So this one’s from the drafts.
Call this a catharsis piece , but really i was just experimenting writing in a different style. If you’ve noticed, some of the words in italics join together to form another sentence of their own.
I hope you liked this piece and until next time :)
