THE BROKENTIDES COLLECTION
A Vision of Abstract Art in the 21st Century
In the vast ocean of art, where movements rise and fall like waves, the 21st century brings forth BrokenTides — a metaphor for the fragmented yet deeply interconnected nature of contemporary abstract expression.
For Arrmand, this journey began long before the canvas — every day of his early life was an exercise in observation and imagination. He was the kind of child who invented games among friends, crafting the rules, designing the strategies, and creating shared worlds from nothing but ideas. In this way, abstraction became more than a style: it became a language — one that spoke not only to the human soul, but to the systems and structures that now mediate our perception.
This vision flows through digital childhoods, museum halls, and memories that endure across decades. In it, abstraction becomes more than a style
Memories from Early Games
Our journey begins in the digital undercurrents of the early 2000s — a time when games like Counter Strike , Grand Theft Auto 1 and Quake redefined interaction and perception. These weren’t merely games; they were raw visual and emotional experiences, built on limited graphics but expansive imagination. The low-res environments weren’t immersive in the cinematic sense, but in something more immediate: awareness. The minimal graphics didn’t distract — they sharpened perception, turning the act of looking into a form of survival. GTA 1, with its top-down cityscapes, turned chaos into design — an abstract urban sprawl rendered in crude pixels and thick outlines.
Quake, with its dark corridors and jagged geometry, was more than a shooter; it was a mood, an atmosphere, a spatial rhythm. Both games taught us to navigate fragmented, often overwhelming worlds — to find coherence in dissonance.

Like abstract art, they asked us to interpret, not just observe. They were early initiations into a language of broken forms and emotional resonance — the digital equivalent of learning how to feel through distortion.
The physical world offered a different kind of abstraction. Walking through museums, we encountered works by Rothko, Pollock, and other visionaries whose textures were immersive experiences — vast fields of color, chaos controlled by intention. These artists shattered the classical image, replacing representation with sensation. In the 21st century, these textures are no longer confined to canvas. They become digital, interactive, even generative. The BrokenTides symbolize this shift: the disintegration of traditional boundaries and the fusion of tactile memory with virtual possibility..
BrokenTides is more than a metaphor — it’s a method, a movement, a way of seeing. It reflects how art in the 21st century is constantly breaking and reassembling, shifting between media, between memory and imagination. Abstract art today lives at the confluence of simplicity and complexity, digital and physical, past and future. And like the tide, it carries with it fragments — of childhood games, museum textures, and some magic that shaped us. These fragments, broken and reformed, continue to speak.
The vision behind BrokenTides was first conceived in 2021 — a quiet idea that lingered, waited, and evolved. It took time to find the right language, the right tools, the right feeling. Only in 2023 did it fully emerge: a year dedicated to crafting each piece by hand, digitally, with care and intention. Every stroke, every detail was part of a larger, invisible rhythm — the tide beneath the tide. In its ebb and flow, we find ourselves — not just as viewers, but as part of the wave.
Each work is a memory trigger — a quiet force that reminds us life is here, now, vivid and unrepeatable.
