We both have the right to choose whatever we want in life

The cruelest endings rarely arrive with shouting, slamming doors, or shattered glass. And Anger at least leaves a mark. It admits that what existed was heavy enough to cause damage when it broke.

And then comes Individuality.
It sounds reasonable. It sounds like something pulled from a therapist’s notepad. It sounds so mature that if your eyes sting while hearing it, you will feel immediately small, as though your heartbreak is just an embarrassing lack of enlightenment.

AND….,

That is where the knife enters.

For months, or maybe years, you built something. You shared the tired hours past midnight, the shared jokes that required no context, and the unperformed silences that say:

I am safe with you, and you are with me.

You were not two separate sovereign nations negotiating a trade border. You were a shared life. You were an "us."

Do you understand??!!

And then, in a single afternoon, the ground dissolves. Because that one person has quietly decided they are done!!
When you look at them desperately for an honest reckoning, wanting to know when the warmth leaked out of the room, asking what changed?

And Disgustingly..!!

They do not even look down in shame.

They do not have the courage to say the raw and ugly truth:

I stopped trying. I want something else. I am tired.

Instead, they fold their hands and offer you an intellectual doctrine:

You’re an individual. I’m an individual.

By turning that abandonment into a philosophical truth,

they rob you of a clean break!!

  • If they were cruel, you could hate them.
  • If they were broken, you could try to mend them.

But when they elevate their exit to the high shelf of "mutual autonomy," you are left holding nothing but smoke.

The relationship wasn’t broken, it was merely worse. They walk out into the sunlight looking evolved, leaving you sitting on the floor of a suddenly hollow room, choking on a beautifully worded absence.
You see the same quiet cowardice everywhere once you know what to look for.

Just like that, when it was convenient to coordinate behind your back, everybody was an ally. The second you ask for the truth, they suddenly become two strictly isolated islands, bound by ethics they invented thirty seconds ago.

We live in a culture that has mastered the vocabulary of boundaries, growth, and self preservation. We know how to recite every buzzword designed to keep our hands clean. We teach people to celebrate walking away from anything that no longer caters to them, but we conveniently forget to teach them the decency of an honest goodbye.

Real maturity doesn’t hide behind slogans. Real individuality is bloody, costly, and honest. It has the spine to stand bare faced inside its own choices and say, without any costume:

I am hurting you, and I know it.

I arranged that call, and this is why.

I don’t love you the way I used to, and I am sorry.

To be denied that truth is a special kind of agony. It traps you in a permanent state of second guessing.

And then you’re the one who’s labelled as someone who keeps assuming.

You replay the conversation in the dark, wondering how something that was supposed to be love could be dismissed so casually. You wonder if you were ever truly known at all, or if you were just a temporary arrangement benched to be vanished till the date.

It’s just cowardness!

And long after they have walked away feeling clean, unburdened, and entirely justified!!

You remain in the silence, bleeding out from a wound they insist was just an act of freedom .
