Why I am running for Democratic County Central Committee
Since 2016 I have come to realize two things;
- It is the work of grassroots activists that is most effective in stopping Donald Trump
- Our party can and needs to be better and stronger than it is today.
The momentum grassroots activists are creating is extraordinary, and we cannot let this movement pass us by. We need to coalesce that energy to drive real change forward.
I am running because our party needs to support the grassroots effort. We need new grassroots leaders to make our party relevant and productive again. To carry our progressive banner nationwide, we must live our values at home.
I have proven that I am up for this challenge. I launched a new and growing Democratic Club in an underserved community while electing progressives in Virginia as District Captain in Sister District. I was Chair of Rock the Congress while also campaigning and getting elected as a Delegate to the CA Democratic Party Convention, passing a resolution to support the Green New Deal. I chaired the College Young Democrats LGBT Caucus while canvassing and phone banking for our local elections. We can lead nationally by building on the success of our grassroots impact locally. Our DCCC is out of touch, and thus not representing or advancing our grassroots momentum.

For example, the local party held a Heart of Resistance Dinner this August. The goal was to help fund the Resistance movement against Donald Trump. While the party managed to raise an impressive $170,000, they spent $140,000 on the dinner itself — an ineffective and tone-deaf result. A budget is a reflection of values; the party’s values are beyond out of touch.
Volunteers like me, are going to push our progressive values to the national stage. The party should be in the hands of the people, not in the hands of those who are not doing the work needed.
I have run the largest phone bank in the nation. Helped get Democrats elected in Virginia. Trained hundreds of volunteers with Rock the Congress. I am a proven organizer with a track record that goes beyond our city.
