Excellent article, Jerry. I went through basically the same when I came back from there on "temporary assignment" of 8 months. I'm saddened this article hasn't gotten the views and feedback it deserves. Like the Korean War, the Vietnam War is quickly becoming the "Forgotten War" as people today aren't even vaguely aware of it. My 16 year old great-nephew came to me about 2 weeks ago. He knew I was in Vietnam. He asked me, "Did the Japanese surrender or did you guys have to kill them all"? Japanese? Long story short, he thought we were fighting the Japanese in Vietnam. He's a bright boy (believe it or not). But they don't teach them a damn thing about history any longer. And, apparently, nothing about the Vietnam War.
