Python programming
My First Weeks of Coding: From Confusion to Confidence
When I joined college, I knew I would have to learn programming. What I didn’t know was how different it would feel when I actually started writing code.During my first programming classes, I was introduced to Python. At first, even simple programs made me think twice. Variables, conditions, loops, and functions were all new to me. Sometimes I understood the logic but still got an error because of one small mistake.Instead of giving up, I decided to practice one problem at a time.Through 19 practice problems, I slowly understood the fundamentals of programming. I learned how to store values using variables, execute instructions step by step, make decisions using conditions, repeat tasks with loops, and organize code using functions. The most interesting part was seeing these concepts work together.
What These Weeks Taught Me
The biggest lesson wasn’t about Python syntax. It was about patience.Programming doesn’t always work on the first try. Errors are normal, and debugging is part of the process. Every mistake helped me understand something I hadn’t noticed before.I also realised that you don’t need to start with a huge project. A small program that you actually understand can teach you more than a complicated project you simply copy.I’m still at the beginning of my coding journey, and I have a lot more to learn. But now, when I see a new programming problem, I don’t immediately think:“I can’t do this.”I think:“Let me try.”And I believe that’s where every programmer’s journey begins.
