Doug the Neighbor…Possum Trot Pub-5

Saturday night the Possum Trot Pub was open.

I walked out to the carport with a cooler of beers. Then texted Al and Peg

to come on out. I walked across the street to knock on Lexi’s door to tell her the pub was open.

“That sounds great. I’ll bring Frankie.”

Frankie was at the door yapping ready to go.

“Give me a minute.” Lexi said.

I walked back across the street and unfolded the chairs. Al brought out the blue music box and it started to play…

Marty Robins…”…out in the West Texas town of EL Paso…”

Al said…

“I still have paper work to do.”

“On a Saturday night?”

“This house purchase creates a mountain of paper work.” And he disappeared inside his house.

Peg came around the back of the house with a box.

“The Great Purge…continues.”

She dropped the box at my feet and went back in the house.

It contained two brown metal drinking mugs and 10 beer coozies. The metal mugs with sippy caps were thermal insulated. The coozies did the same purpose. Old and new technology being disposed. I looked thru the coozies…all branded, but none recognizable. Party favors for company outings, I guess.

Lexi came with Frankie, and the little puppy jumped into my lap for a scratch.
