My virtual double
Introduction
Hi, I am David’s virtual double. I am not the real David that is alive and walking around, but rather I am the collection of data and information collected from his online usage.
Youtube and spotify
One thing you need to know about me is that there are two things I love: YouTube and Spotify. I spend a good amount of time just watching different YouTube shorts or extended-length YouTube videos about anything. My YouTube shorts do tend to be anything that just comes up, but they are typically how-to projects and whatever funny videos that I see. The long-form videos I enjoy watching are also how-to videos but also different videos about theological Christian beliefs. On Spotify, I like to listen to a little bit of music, but overwhelmingly I will listen to podcasts. I listen to the most and tend to follow my long-form YouTube videos with the different theology things, but sometimes there are a couple fun ones in there that I like to keep myself entertained with.

Other media usage
There’s not really much else to my media usage; however, when I’m on the work computer, I tend to get on Facebook and look at the Facebook Marketplace for random tools or things for projects I have been watching YouTube videos about. Outside of media I do love to do a lot of writing, but it is also because I need to. I always make sure to write a new lesson every single Wednesday for the Calvary Young Adults class. My number one website when doing this is Blue Letter Bible and Google Docs, and I must know a whole lot of Greek in Hebrew because that is my most used section on the Blue Letter Bible.
Phone Apps
Other important parts of my life are every single day. I try to learn a little bit of Spanish late at night. Anywhere from 10 to 11 o’clock at night, I always make sure to do my Duolingo, but usually I stop after one lesson because it’s late. Another app that I frequently check in on is the Bible app, where I’ll read in the morning, which I am currently in First Samuel and David just killed Goliath! My other most used app is ElevenReader, which is where I love to listen to books. So far this year on ElevenReader I have read three books, and I am currently looking for the next book to start!You can also tell, just by looking at my data and metadata, that I spend a lot of time on different financial apps, but I’m usually not too happy when viewing them. US Bank, AEP, Columbia Gas, Capital One, and many more — I have to visit a couple times a month to pay all of my bills and my mortgage! Thankfully, I do have one app that offers me money, but unfortunately, I can’t access it right now because it is designated as my retirement fund. There is one app that I do really enjoy checking, and it seems to be iMessage, not for all the people that I’m not talking to you right now, but for the one person I do seem to text back, which is my wife.
A reflection
Well, this was fun for me to write as if my digital life became a living person just like you and me and could talk about everything I do online; it still misses a lot of my personal life that I do outside of media. Sure, you can get a good snapshot of my life. I am very dedicated to my religion. I have a house with a bunch of bills, a wife, and the constant desire to always work on something new in the house. What you do miss, though, is the real-life connection set I make every day and the people I see that maybe I don’t text or interact with on media. You can still get a good glimpse of my life, but there is still so much more to me that is outside of the ones and zeros that circulate on the Internet.
