Your body makes the hormone, then breaks it down in two minutes
Every time you eat, your gut releases a hormone called GLP-1. It tells your pancreas to release insulin, and slows how fast your stomach empties.
Then an enzyme called DPP-4 breaks it down. The active form has a very short half-life.
That is not a flaw. A signal that means “food just arrived” is useless if it lingers until Thursday.
But it does explain a lot about the glp-1 supplement aisle.
Same hormone, completely different job
Prescription GLP-1 drugs work on the same pathway. The difference is engineering: they are built to resist DPP-4, and some of them are dosed weekly.
So one is a signal your body sends after a meal and clears almost immediately. The other is a sustained pharmacological effect, prescribed and monitored by a doctor.
They are not the same thing at different strengths. They are two different jobs that happen to use the same receptor.
Anyone selling you a glp-1 supplement alternative to a prescription medication is either confused about that or hoping you are.
What “natural” means in a glp 1 natural supplement
When people search for how to boost glp-1 naturally, what they usually mean is: can I get the benefit without the prescription.
- The honest answer is that your own GLP-1 response is real, it happens several times a day, and it is influenced by what you eat. Protein and fibre in a meal produce a different response than a croissant and a coffee does.
What nobody can promise you is that supporting that response adds up to the effect of a drug designed to sustain it. Those are different scales of intervention.
Do glp-1 supplements work? Where the research actually sits
Some ingredients have been measured on this directly, which is rarer in this category than the marketing suggests.

Eriomin, a citrus bioflavonoid complex, was studied at 200 mg a day for 12 weeks. Circulating GLP-1 rose about 17% from baseline in that group.
Worth being precise about what that is and is not. It is a measured change in a hormone level. It is not a measured change in appetite, hunger, fullness or body weight, because those were not what the study set out to assess.
Plenty of brands make that leap anyway. A hormone level is not appetite or weight, and this study measured neither.
What this means if you are shopping
Three questions worth asking about anything marketed for natural glp-1 support.
Is the ingredient named and dosed, or hidden inside a proprietary blend with a total weight and no breakdown.
Was the dose on the label the dose in the study. This is where most of the category quietly falls apart.
What did the study actually measure. A hormone level, a questionnaire score and a kilogram on a scale are three very different claims, and only one of them is what you are hoping to buy.
The part we will say plainly
We make Sunbreak Metabolic Reset Gummies, which contain Eriomin at the studied 200 mg. So read all of the above knowing where we sit.
What we can say is that it supports your body’s natural GLP-1 response.
What we are not going to say is that it works like a medication, replaces one, or makes you less hungry. The research we have does not show that.
- The hormone your gut makes after a meal is real, it is worth understanding, and it is gone again almost immediately. Anything that claims to change that permanently is describing a drug.
