The screencast video I have created is a demonstration for students about how to use the web application, Google.com. In the video, I will complete a search for a research question, demonstrate how to utilize features to advance searches, and explain the tools and icons on Google search. As part of the screen cast, I discuss how to practice critical digital consumption and evaluating sources for our Project-Based Learning unit.
Class Objective, Lesson Process, and Screencast Takeaway:
My Project-Based Learning lesson will cover the subject of science and, more specifically, an environmental and ecosystems unit. Students will explore what a healthy environment is and how humans interact with Earth. They will additionally watch this screencast video to understand how they can use digital tools to learn more about a topic. After watching the video, the class will independently research questions that they have about environmental health and the impacts of human and ecosystem interactions. Students will share their research findings with their classmates and learn to communicate information. They will apply this knowledge to their class art mural project. Using Google search will empower students to feel confident in researching information and evaluating sources by thinking critically. Students should practice critical digital consumption when using Google Search.
