How It Started..

Fired. While on maternity leave. It looks even worse when typed out, yet this was my exact situation almost 3 years ago. Did I anticipate it? No. Did I survive it? The jury’s still out on that. Am I still going to write about it? Absolutely.

Long, long ago I worked in the warehouse of a major beverage company in the Sunshine State. I was the one of very few women in a male-dominated workplace, but still managed to work in both supply chain and administration all while finding time to train and certify new hires on pallet jacks and forklifts. Talk about getting the most bang for your buck.

Needless to say, daily I was exhausted — mentally and physically after my shift. Did my only kid at the time care? No. Was she supposed to? Also no. Her father didn’t even care. Did I forget to mention that he was also my supervisor? Yeah, imagine how fun that was. Anyway, I still had to pull it together in order to provide a stable and loving environment for this sweet little human who didn’t ask to be here on Earth. So everyday, I left work in time to sit in the never-ending car line to pick her up from school and twice a week we would make the journey to gymanastics class where I inevitably met my youngest child’s daughter.

This is where all the fun begins…
