The Distance Between Us
Sometimes, I envy the people who get to live in the same city as you.
Not because they love you more,
but because they get what I keep wishing for—
the possibility of seeing you whenever they miss you.
I hate that my love for you has to travel through a screen.
That every hug I want is replaced by a call,
every “I miss you” followed by another day of waiting.
And maybe that's why I sometimes think about your past.

Someone once had the kind of closeness I can only dream about.
They could see you without planning months ahead.
They could meet you on an ordinary day
and turn it into something special.
I don't envy what they had with you.
I envy the distance they didn't have to fight.
Because if I could choose one thing,
it wouldn't be more time.
It would simply be one city.
One city where missing you doesn't have to hurt this much.
