AI Doesn’t Need to Talk to Be Great. Meet Decision Models.
The spectacular rise of the ‘LLM alternative’
After years of “LLM this, LLM that,” we finally have an alternative. It’s fast, ultra-cheap, and the hottest thing in AI right now: decision models.
And it comes from one of the creators of ChatGPT, of all people. Think of it as an “autonomous decision-maker.” Instead of trying to create “God,” as other labs claim to be building, it dusts off a decades-old AI idea to build something incredibly useful that addresses some of frontier models’ biggest weaknesses.
By exploring how these models differ from LLMs and where even frontier LLMs fall short, we’ll see why decision models represent a new axis of AI progress, without the added concerns about cyberattacks or threats to human survival.
Sounds refreshing, right? I can’t hide my excitement about what you can do with these models, so let’s dive in.
Decision models, a new category of AI models
Although it’s essentially a classifier, people are losing their minds over Jev. But why?
Every modern AI pipeline that uses AI to automate workflows has a common problem: we are using gigantic, slow LLMs for reflex-like decision-making.
