Surprise! AI Doesn’t Cause Layoffs. It’s the Opposite
Who would’ve thought
For years, the pundits of the AI industry told you that your job would soon be no more. McKinsey, a consulting firm so revered it’s referred to as “The Firm”, predicted 12 million job displacements by 2030 because of AI.
This has caused millions to fear (and for quite reasonable reasons, hate) this technology. But the more data that comes out, the more one realizes we were all gaslit.
In fact, the latest research shows that the trend might be the exact opposite.
But we were told otherwise!
A new, interesting piece of research by Ramp and Revelio Labs has found a striking correlation that discredits the idea that AI doesn’t cause massive layoffs.
If anything, it creates them.
Headcount go up
According to their analysis, companies adopting AI have a 10.2% average increase in headcount two years in, versus those with low AI adoption metrics (or zero adoption) showing basically no growth.
However, if you know your statistics, your spidey senses for skepticism should be tickling like feet on a medieval torture chamber, as this looks like the classic “confusing correlation with causation” example.
