wheres the ‘frontier’?
in my Glitch Western Art worlds && the ‘frontier technologies’ of AI in 2025, ppl are often looking for the latest developments that are going to defn the futures. these tend to be from, in the language of AI, the latent space of our imagination(s)
in the past we lived in the ‘natural world’ * oc, we can discuss the fact that in the past ‘nature’ was defined differently than today, but still, many aspects of what we humans consider to be nature remain the same, ie ‘touching grass’ as a shorthand for reconnecting w less ‘technologized’ && more directly natural experiences of the world, ourselves, and each other
AI used to live in our world, given that we made AI, however, increasingly we live in and are going to be living in AI’s world soon. you might alrdy live in AI’s world or you might say that AI has alrdy been defining conditions of our shared experience for awhile. you can look to BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, which ‘controls’ ~7% of the world’s financial assets && their Aladdin (Asset, Liability and Debt and Derivative Investment Network) system which has been running since 1988 …
anti-ai sentiment is a technosocial artifact of fundamental change. the Industrial Revolution saw massive resistance to new technologies incl`N photography, cinema, trains… ppl also have genuinely good socioeconomic reasons to be extremely concerned abt our futures …

ppl have reasonable environmental concerns during technosocial times like these. as yawl recall, the Industrial Revolution is when we humans began to create our current climate collapse. sum folks call this era the Anthropocene, a human-defined time in which we literally broke the world
