Automating the Antigravity Desktop Install on Linux
A single curl command to place binaries, desktop shortcuts, and icons where they actually belong without touching root.
I wanted to run Google Antigravity on my Linux workstation.
So, I went to the download page.
I clicked on Download for x64 and and got a tarball.
The instructions tell you to extract the archive and run ./Antigravity[cite: 1]. I unpacked it into ~/Downloads
That leaves a directory full of raw binaries, shared objects, and resource files sitting directly in downloads.
I do not spend my days dealing with Linux desktop packaging standards. I just want the application to exist in my app launcher, have an icon, and stay contained in user space without cluttering up arbitrary folders.
Instead of wiring that up by hand every time, I used Antigravity to write an installer script for Linux workstations.

What It Does
The script keeps everything inside user space without touching sudo or polluting root directories:
- Downloads the tarball to a temporary workspace.
- Installs the app files to ~/.local/share/antigravity.
- Symlinks the binary to ~/.local/bin/antigravity.
- Drops the icon into ~/.local/share/icons/hicolor/512x512/apps/.
- Adds a desktop entry at ~/.local/share/applications/antigravity.desktop so your desktop launcher can find it.
To install:
curl -fsSL https://gist.githubusercontent.com/josephaw1022/ac95ec84e69dd9486ea0ae1ff50fd0e6/raw/install-antigravity.sh | bashTo Uninstall:
curl -fsSL https://gist.githubusercontent.com/josephaw1022/ac95ec84e69dd9486ea0ae1ff50fd0e6/raw/uninstall-antigravity.sh | bashAfter running the install script, I can see the Antigravity Desktop app is installed.
Conclusion
It takes about five seconds to run, requires zero manual file wrangling, and leaves your desktop environment clean. If you want Antigravity running on a Linux workstation without overthinking the setup, grab the script and get back to work.
