Sleepy Hollow — Preface The Hollow That Watches

There are towns that appear on maps and towns that appear in stories, and Sleepy Hollow has always belonged more to the latter than the former. Even now, in an age of satellites, drones, and digital cartography, the place seems to resist being fully captured.

Photos glitch. GPS signals bend. Videos taken within its borders develop a faint static, as if the town itself is exhaling across the lens. People say it’s just bad reception. People say a lot of things. But the ones who’ve lived there long enough know better. They say the town doesn’t like attention.

Sleepy Hollow, in 2026, is not the sleepy pastoral village of legend. It has Wi‑Fi, electric cars, and teenagers who scroll through their feeds with the same restless thumbs as anywhere else. But beneath the surface, the old story still hums.

The Headless Horseman — once a figure of campfire tales and Halloween decorations — has evolved into something stranger, something more suited to the modern world. He no longer rides a horse. He rides a motorcycle with a blacked‑out visor, a machine that growls like an animal and moves like a shadow.

Some say he appears only in recordings. Others swear they’ve seen him on the back roads at night, engine rumbling like distant thunder.
