🌿 Introducing: The DIY Creative Entrepreneur Series
12 weeks of gentle business-building for creative souls
A gentle note for your week — from The Gentle Growth Journal.
Growing slowly. Building kindly. Taking care as we go.
A few months ago, I was coming out of burnout and wanting to build something meaningful — but feeling completely overwhelmed by how loud all the business advice felt.
Everything was about scaling fast, going viral, hustling harder, optimizing every minute.
I wasn’t interested in that kind of lifestyle.
Not because I wasn’t capable or didn’t care. But because I was still recovering from burnout, the last thing I needed was to throw myself back into that cycle all over again.
I needed something slower. More practical. More intentional.
So I started building it for myself.
How this series came to be
I want to be honest with you: I didn’t come up with all of these ideas on my own.
This framework grew out of:
- my own experience recovering from burnout
- wanting to build a business that could sustain my interest and my wellbeing
- finding other women creators who were also rejecting hustle culture
- watching workshops, listening to podcasts and taking tons of notes
- working through ideas with AI tools like ChatGPT
- studying and speaking with people who were building small, flexible businesses that worked around their lives instead of consuming them
I’d already created my Burnout Recovery Kit, and that was helping — but I wanted something more. Something that wasn’t just for right now, but for my future self too.
I wanted to build a business with gentle ambition — where growth didn’t mean grinding, where sustainability was built in from the beginning, and where fun and functionality could coexist.
This series is what emerged from that process.
It’s not a perfect system. It’s not the only way. But it’s working for me — and I think it might work for you too.
The women who helped me see differently
I’ll be sharing more about the creators and business owners who influenced this thinking as we go, but I wanted to say this now (again): I didn’t figure this out alone.
There are women out there building businesses that stay small on purpose. Women who build businesses that fit their lives, honor their seasons, and prove you can be ambitious and gentle at the same time.
Their work showed me how to imagine a different path — and I want to you to see that too.
(I’ll share specific resources and recommendations as we move through the weeks. I want you to know where these ideas came from.)
What this series actually is (and isn’t)
Let me be really clear about something important:
This 12-week series is not going to give you a fully-formed, wildly successful business by Week 12.
That’s not how building something sustainable works.
What this will give you is strong, flexible foundations — the kind that can hold weight as you grow, adapt when your life changes, and support whatever direction your business (and life) takes in the years to come.
Think of this as:
- Pouring a foundation for a house (not building the entire house in 3 months)
- Learning the fundamentals that will serve you for years
- Starting somewhere balanced and intentional instead of chaotic
- Creating systems that can flex and evolve with you
The truth? Building a real business takes years, not weeks.
But starting with strong foundations means those years will be less chaotic, less overwhelming, and more aligned with who you actually are.
What We’ll Cover Over the Next 12 Weeks
Here are the foundational pieces we’ll work through together:
Weeks 1–3: Foundations & Clarity
- Week 1: Vision & Foundations
- Week 2: Offers & Pricing
- Week 3: Admin & Financial Systems
Weeks 4–6: Messaging, Visibility & Sales
- Week 4: Brand Messaging & Positioning
- Week 5: Visibility & Outreach
- Week 6: Sales & Gentle Invitations
Weeks 7–9: Systems & Community
- Week 7: Systems & Automation
- Week 8: Workflow & Sustainable Rhythms
- Week 9: Building Trust & Connection
Weeks 10–12: Long-Term Sustainability
- Week 10: Mindset & Confidence
- Week 11: Long-Term Vision & Sustainability
- Week 12: Integration & Next Season
These are the essentials — the foundational knowledge and systems that will support whatever you build in the years to come.
What You’ll Have by Week 12
You won’t have:
- A perfect, finished business
- Everything figured out
- Guaranteed income or instant success
- A rigid system that never needs adjustment
You will have:
- Clarity on what you’re building and why
- Systems and tools that can grow with you
- Confidence in making aligned decisions
- A sustainable path forward
- Strong foundations to build on for years
And that’s the point.

We’re not racing to some arbitrary finish line. We’re starting somewhere balanced and sustainable so that the next years of building feel grounded instead of chaotic.
You’re not behind. You’re building something that will last.
Who this is for
This series is for you if:
- you’re creative, sensitive, or multi-passionate
- you’re tired of hustle culture but still want to build something real
- you’re recovering from burnout (or trying to prevent it)
- you want structure without pressure
- you value slow, intentional growth
- you want a business that fits your actual life
- you’re drawn to gentle ambition — building something meaningful without destroying yourself in the process
This series is not for you if:
- you want fast scaling or hustle culture
- you’re looking for get-rich-quick tactics
- you need someone to push or pressure you
My goal (and maybe yours too)
Here’s what I’m always trying to avoid: going right back into burnout.
I want to build something that feels sustainable and fun. Something that keeps my interest. Something that supports me now and grows with me into the future.
I want foundations and functionality and gentle growth built in from the beginning — not bolted on later when I’m already exhausted.
Full transparency: The day I’m posting this (March 29, 2026), I finished up the series about a month ago. I worked through this exact process! It’s been engaging, fun, and I’ve made more progress in the past 3 months than in the past year ~ without feeling overwhelmed. 👏🏻
That’s why I’m sharing it with you.
If that resonates with you, I’m so glad you’re here!
How to follow along
You can engage with this series however feels right for you. Each week covers one foundational piece of building a sustainable business.
You can:
- Work through it week by week as I publish
- Save them all and work through them at your own pace later
- Read them and take what resonates, leave the rest
There’s no pressure to do every exercise or follow every step perfectly.
Take what helps. Leave what doesn’t.
A note on pace
I know what it’s like to start something with excitement, only to feel the pressure of “keeping up” drain all the joy out of it.
So let me say this clearly: You are not required to follow this in real-time.
If you fall behind, you’re not behind. If you skip a week (or three…like me), you’re not failing. If you adapt this to fit your life differently from how I describe, you’re not doing it wrong. And honestly, I’d love to hear about it!
This series will be here when you’re ready for it.
What’s coming
On Sunday, we’ll start with Week 1: Vision & Foundations — the gentle grounding work that makes everything else feel less chaotic.
We’ll explore:
- reconnecting with your “why”
- honoring your capacity
- choosing a direction without locking yourself in
- building a business that actually supports the life you want
If you’re ready to build something calm, sustainable, and aligned, I’m so glad you’re here. But even if this series just gives you one idea, one tool, one moment of “oh, I’m not the only one who feels this way”, that’s enough.
✨Let’s begin.✨
Warmly,
Kenzie 🫶🏻
