10 Famous and Highly Rated Films that I Simply Don’t Understand
There are films that everyone seems to love. Critics adore them, audiences adore them, and someone will inevitably look at you strangely when you say you didn’t enjoy them. Well, I’ve got news for you: I think some of them are absolute shite. This isn’t an attempt to prove that these films are objectively bad — I wouldn’t even know how to do that. They’re simply films whose enormous reputations I cannot understand, despite giving them a fair chance.
With that said, here are the ten films I have in mind.
1. Avatar (2009) IMDb 7.9
Many regard this film as a major technical achievement. I think it marked the beginning of the downfall: no more real sets, costumes, make-up or practical effects — just a bloody green room. On top of that, ugh, those ugly blue creatures. I can’t stand them. I was extremely disappointed to get this from the same James Cameron who gave me Aliens and Titanic.
2. Inside Out (2015) IMDB 8.1
Definitely the worst Pixar film and easily one of the worst major animated films I’ve ever seen. A script seemingly pulled out of an arse, ugly visuals — a celebration of bad taste — and characters constantly…
