NATO Just Did What Putin Feared Most
Putin Is Not Going to Like What NATO Just Did in Kyiv — The full NATO Military Committee just returned to Kyiv after eight years — with all 32 allies represented.
There is something important about where NATO chose to gather this week.
For the first time in eight years, the full NATO Military Committee travelled to Kyiv. All 32 member states were represented. Not diplomats sitting safely in another European capital. Not a small delegation coming for a photo opportunity. The alliance’s highest military authority came directly to Ukraine’s capital.
And honestly, if you are sitting in Moscow watching this, it is hard to see the visit as anything other than a warning.
The message was simple: Russia has not managed to push NATO away from Ukraine. If anything, the opposite is happening.
Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, chairman of the NATO Military Committee, led the delegation and met with Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, as well as representatives of the Ukrainian General Staff. The discussions focused on the battlefield, Ukraine’s military priorities and what NATO countries can do to provide further support.
