Should your website be a place for all of you?
I reacently got new buisnes cards. Im super proud of the design but the day when they got deliverd all I could think about was my website that they link too. You see I have build a perfectly ok website that shows you what I do profecionaly. But there is so much more I wonder if a personal wepsite could solve.
I have periods where for months I am totally off social media. Not posting, no looking, even app deinstaled. It is 100% necesary. But every time I miss social media. Not the curent ones even but the ones I signed up for. Instagram with personal gallery that reminded me of all the good memories and zero presure to build any personal brand. Internet used to feel like a third place where you hang out with your friends.

I hear more and more people echoing the same sentiment. Advocating for hobby websites about nishe intrests or digital third places. Much like real live third pleaces they provide space that builds comunity away from intrests of technology giants monopolizing our atention?
Should I post for example a list of all the shows I watched with a ranking? Seams a bit unnecesary. But at the same time why is my website only serving me when I look for new work project? It is personal web page, why not make it personal. Why not have it be a place where my friends can go too knowing that we have a similar taste and there for it makes more sence than trusting a random critic?
On the other hand it feels a bit reviling and with the AI bots scouering internet for all new content it doesnt feel save anymore. Might be why theory of dead internet feels mych les teoretical nowadays.
I am courious to see your opinion on this. For now I can tell you that I eded up creating a substac to motivate myself to post some of thous random intrests https://substack.com/@mikadnr/posts I am still on the fence about adding it to my website. But it makes me sad to think that my website is still not as personal as I would like it to be.
