Using Decals in Unity
Today, I learned about decals and their uses in Unity. To learn more about decals, I imported a blood decal package to work with.
The first thing I noticed when adding the blood decal into the scene is that the material shader is HDRP/Decal instead of a typical HDRP/Lit like my other objects.
I also noticed that the decal is not a game object that I can see at all times but a projection that displays onto an existing object.
What’s nice about the projection decal is that it will contort itself to match the object’s shape rathe than the blood decal just being a flat static object sitting on top.

That’s about it for decals. They are a nice way to add an extra level of design and style to existing game objects.
