Digital Dependency.
DISCLAIMER; While researching for this particular topic , the result I got from my research went as far as social media , addiction and the likes but that is not my focus. I just want to inform my readers about my sudden observation and before it begins to garner scrutiny let me make it very clear that this Is not a controversy.
INTRODUCTION
From evolution to technical advancement, Humans have replaced their basic abilities with technology and very soon we might not want to do any thing that technology cannot help us do and this is called digital dependency. My thoughts are as follows, 1.humans are moving towards being robotised and apart from other technologies, the technology that has made this a reality is our smartphones. 2. That the way we are dependent on our devices might be the reason why our devices will not only be a constant tool in our hand but also a literal part of our body.
Our Journey to be Robotised
Many people term digital dependency to mean addiction to smart phone , while that is true there’s another term people aren’t talking about. It looks like an advancement we are making in technology. It is not just a means to get to a place where a person is always glued to their phone but rather to make the phone a part of the person’s body.

I am not referring to robots that are humanized, Far from it. I am referring to the reversed which is humans that are being robostised. Lets look at the various ways it has been attempted in times past
- Prosthetics & Exoskeletons: Quiet a useful technology if I do say so myself. This innovative approach has given many amputees the chance at a normal life.
- Implanted Tech: Simple integrations like cardiac pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, and smart insulin pumps have been robotizing our physiological functions for decades. Humans will have lower chances at life if it were not for this helpful technologies.
Although technologies like this were used in helpful ways, people have not changed from exploring forbidden fruits and looking for depraved ways to use technology. Completely unnecessary as it seems , technology dares to replace our physical abilities that are not damaged or lost and it is a misuse. These recent technologies are trying to take advantage of real life problems to introduce something dangerous. Technologies like nueralink attempts to make a human “more smart” and able to control the internet like a cyborg. Nueralink attempts to make man in control of technology by just thinking of it. There you have it .
There you have digital dependency at its finest . That the seeming goal is beginning to look like an attempt to control humans completely. That the seeming goal of technology is trying to steal from human beings the very core of their design, which is creativity, self control and intelligence and reduce them all to behaving pre programmed. That is digital dependency.
Solutions in clear sight
If this sounded like a controversy with limited facts then I apologize. But I wasn’t writing with the goal to prove my writing with numbers , off course I will publish post like that in coming weeks. My purpose of writing digital dependency was from an observation.
An observation that human abilities are slowly being replaced by technology and the ironic thing is how much humans are helping this to take full effect. Waking very early and not feeling like you have lived until you actually pick up your phone and explore social media. Dare I say there’s a root, but we will discuss escapism in the next post.
I wish people will use technology well and not let technology use them. That people will think of life outside their devices because it exists. life outside our devices exist , there’s an alarm clock, there’s physical books, there’s DVD. I am not suggesting that we stop working smart but I believe we can minimize our dependency for the main risk of being distracted.
Thank you. I hope you enjoyed the read . Stay observant. Stay Curious. See you on the next post.
