13 Common Mac Mistakes You’re Probably Making
Don’t Let These Common Mac Missteps Slow You Down
I will never forget the first time I used a Mac.
I had just made the big switch from Windows after years of muscle memory, shortcuts, and right-click menus that just made sense to me.
So when I sat down in front of that sleek aluminum beauty, I figured, “How hard could this be?”
And as it turns out to be (initially)… very hard.
I use to close apps that wouldn’t actually quit, get frustrated trying to find files (spotlight would always take forever to bring on something I was actually looking for.
But, over time (and with a few mistakes I still regret), I figured things out. But if I could go back and save myself hours of confusion, I would start with this list.
Here are 13 Mac mistakes you are probably making — and more importantly, how to stop making them.
1. Clicking the Red “X” Doesn’t Quit the App
This one got me so bad.
Coming from Windows, clicking the red “X” in the corner of a window meant, “I am done here.”
But on macOS? That just closes the window, not the application.
So the app keeps running in the background, quietly hogging memory.
