Choose a thick, compact cover for your stool, or a floral-patterned one that blends in with your office chair [628].

Introduction

Hello, This is picturesque.

First, I would like to mention that this blog post — originally published on May 24, 2024 — is being revised as part of a general update process around September 24, 2026. This includes reworking everything from the title to the text itself.

You may notice that the post numbers in this section are mixed; while they generally align with posts from 2021, the inclusion of a 2024 post here is simply the result of reorganizing my content.

My policy is to retain the original publication dates for past posts, though I do occasionally consolidate multiple entries into one to improve readability.

I apologize for any discrepancy between the chronological order and the post numbers. However, I have chosen to keep the original publication date because I value the history of my journey up to this point.

This post takes a different approach from my YouTube video on the subject; unlike the video, which focused solely on a single cushion cover for a stool, this entry covers more ground.

While the same chair covers do appear here, I showcase three different types of covers alongside the chairs themselves. My goal is to convey the reality that a chair’s presence in an interior space is defined by the chair and its cover combined.

It’s not necessarily the case that only fluffy cushions look good in an interior

① Small cover for a stool (the one shown in the video): The 8 cm height — achieved by stacking two 4 cm thick pieces of urethane foam — accounts for the foam flattening out over time.

This stool features black metal legs and a thick, brown, oval-shaped wooden seat; originally priced in the 6,000-yen range around 2010, it is a product of solid quality.

It is beautifully upholstered in an interior jacquard fabric known as “faille,” featuring an all-over botanical pattern in khaki green.

Reflecting a preference for a relaxed fit, the cover is designed with a generous amount of ease around the edges.

② Bell-shaped sewing machine chair cover: The chair used when sewing — a pale pink office chair made by Kokuyo. I handmade the cover featuring a rose pattern, pairing it with a solid-colored backrest cover.

I bought the rose-patterned jacquard fabric from the curtain fabric remnant section, and the amount I got was just right for the project.

③ Square cover for PC chair: An office chair — an older model from Kokuyo — featuring a seat in a dark, khaki-tinged brown. I purchased a set of two square covers.

If they fit the chair’s backrest, you can use the two matching covers from the set for both the seat cushion and the backrest simultaneously.

This arrangement offers a different look from the pink version in step ②; the idea came to me when I saw them being sold as a two-piece set, even though I had originally intended to buy just one.

Afterword

When it comes to interior design — since it takes place within the privacy of your own home — you can indulge your personal preferences even more deeply than with fashion, where you have to consider how others see you.

In short, it offers virtually limitless freedom.

I plan to share every idea that sparks in my mind — even the unconventional ones you might not typically see elsewhere — right here on this blog.
