Any cars which provide connected cars features will require such solutions to be provided as an assurance for customers buying them.
Solution Prerequisites:
The first requirement to push out such a solution is to have regularized software throughout and support a centralized security monitoring and diagnostics services.
Previously from the computers, networks and servers segment, there has been a possible open-source solution for anti-malware and anti-virus.
This may not be the case for upcoming connected world technologies, because Vendors and OEMs have the advantage to start early and capture the significant share of the market. The vendors and OEMs can at least provide partial solution limited only to their product initially, and later they can expand into other product domains. Open source solutions also require more time and effort from the open-source community, including the fact that the solution can’t be provided until the system is regularized. This could defer open-source solutions.
