Natal Mars opposite Neptune
Projecting, the thought that someone is exceedingly weak, only to see that they are powerful, that that power is revealed.
Neptune is a mirror. Neptune is about what is in you, what lives in you. I think it expands the influence of all sorts of things over your own self, and what you’re willing to follow or believe in
It’s actions that are awe-inspiring or actions that seem like a nightmare.
Neptune opposite Mars is glitter and sparkles found after a long, enduring battle.
The way we medicate our pain, our traumas, how we tap out until they inevitably show their face again.
It’s a soothing balm that we imagine, fantasize in order to cope with the weight, burden of the present, the trying present, the pain of the present
Maybe it’s also trying with glitz and glamour, bringing that glitz and glamour in so that the present does not seem so painful, it’s escapism and fantasy
It’s pinocchio, it’s Memoirs of a Geisha, it’s Marilyn Monroe
It’s seductive actions, a romance lingering in one’s mind, threatening to destroy a relationship, etc.
Feeling lost, purposeless, doing things without knowing why
Inspiration is really important, but more than that, really powerful for these natives, because it leads them to do things, conquer pains they never thought they could. It’s a real catalyst for their strength, and showing their strength, and acting with it
The why is very important for these natives. Not the why in terms of how does it function, how does this work, the why in terms of inspiration and experience
It feels like the trials these individuals undergo have to be so all encompassing and experiential, for that Neptune energy to revive them
Like those Martial experiences give them that juice, that power
Mars-Neptune — The spiritual seeker,
the follower,
the initiate
Buying into an idea, a great hope, and then it doesn’t pan out
The soft martial arts, non-force
Ineffective struggle
I’m on a journey and I’ve lost my way
Experiencing something, snapping out of it and then saying that was weird
exhausting, fatiguing, quiet and deadly, quitting
I’m thinking about how in high school, I had to run toward this dummy and push it forward with all my might.
It was muddy. I ran forward and struggled with it until I fell into the mud.
My coaches had a confused look on their faces, and I felt embarrassed and confused myself. Like, “What was that?”
Like, it was all a smushy, mushy mess of acting, and for what?
Sometimes when I look back at my educational experiences, I feel regret because I did a lot of evasion of assignments and things. Then, when finally I’d have to do them, I’d rush to complete them and hand them in. And often times I still received a mark in the 80s. Mm, at the time I felt content with that. But what did I really gain?
Now, I ask myself about all I could have learned and developed in myself to move toward a solid aim or career.
So, there’s like a veil of mystery and longing for what I could have achieved.
All of this type of thinking gives me a headache. Ugh, lethargic energy around this sort of thinking, because it’s a repeating pattern of the mushy gushy through complaints
It’s kind of like pointless action. I think we really need something inspiring to get us going. I think efforts will be worthwhile for this placement.
Mars in Cap knows that effort does not become worthwhile until years and years later. I can learn this from Mars in Cap souls
If I want that big impact, I’ve gotta spend that time in Mars-Capricorn. But Neptune wants that big impact without, maybe without having to try hard. But then we see it’s an illusion.
Even if the aim is spiritual, I have to work hard.
Like if the aim is spiritual, I may have experienced or seen the big payout — Like got a taste of it, then that could galvanize me to action.
In a way, we need to see it, taste it a little, in order to believe it I think.

Working hard is really difficult for Mars opposite Neptune, because that energy or enthusiasm to work can just slip away.
Ski trip where I was expected to come in the first cohort but was second to last
Losing steam quick
Key words and Thoughts:
- Mars cuts, Mars severs.
- Itching/Itchiness — The uncomfortable contrast and facing it — dryness to wetness
- I think of hot steam
- Boundaries, fighting the overstepping of my boundaries
- Joan of Arc
- The beauty of battle
On Mars
Mars is about initiating, strategizing, the drudgery that comes with mastery, maybe projecting a vision of a wonderful master onto a man, or someone I see as being strikingly masculine (seemingly)…
With Neptune here, nothing is ever as it seems.
On Neptune
Neptune is water, with Mars here, rough, choppy waters. Dangerous waters. I think of the steam in hot yoga.
I think of the steam in an enclosed space for the sake of health, like covering my head and putting my face to boiled water, so the steam opens my pores for healing to enter.
So, in this way boundaries being erupted, into tiny, little cuts
Like the samurai who would kill someone with their blade with a 1000 cuts
So it’s this ongoing, laborious pain that won’t let up.
I think in that struggle, an individual, the soul can find a freedom that is otherworldly. Like through the trials and tribulations of pain, there is freedom on the other side. I think Jesus on the cross.
I think of Outlander, season 7
I think when Jaime is being whipped and he sees Claire giving him the strength to carry on
So when a strength emerges, arises seemingly out of nowhere, like a strong gust of wind uplifting the weary soldier
The tired follower of something bigger, grander than they are
We see fantasy, illusion, otherworldliness entering the everyday life of the individual. These ideals, that are far away, not grasped by many are ushered into their life and they perform actions on the basis of these, these experiences had
Magnificent, and magical illusions, dispelling of long held “truths” or values
Neptune is boundless, it is un-navigable because there is no rhyme or reason that follows the conventions of the material world
Maybe a mars opposite Neptune individual can experience a strength that doesn’t make sense to others. Whether that be mental strength or physical strength — Physical if it’s touching ascendant. Maybe the strength is here, and then it blows away like a gust of wind.
- Reminds me of a lit candle, then it’s extinguished
— Or vice versa, it’s close to burning out but comes back stronger, fuller, brighter
What do I know about Neptune?
Neptune is an outer planet, and its influence can capture the imaginations and the hearts of many because of what it does to the individual inside.
With Venus, we understand that she is beautiful because of a, b and c.
With Neptune, we see and feel an energy, are enraptured by this energy which emerges from inside-out
Neptune-Mars I think can be enduring. I figure this much because it is a dynamic blending of the two.
Mars lends to this dynamic its relationship with the 6th house of drudgery, of unending work, unending in the long term. In the short term, yes, the work can be put away but you can never fully get rid of it, nor should you because it’s the learning ground
The training ground to harness something bigger than yourself. To bring something bigger than yourself into practice, into manifestation, into reality.
I think with Mars-Neptune, there can be a difficulty felt initially in that something comes over your own actions that is subtle, mysterious, unexplained and feels totally out of your control…
Maybe you find this beautiful, enduring strength in others with out recognizing that it lives in you
Maybe you find this beautiful yin strength that you want to chase after, you want to protect, you want to mirror without recognizing that it is within you
Putting in effort and receiving a special boon at the end.
