Have a great weekend!

A lazy afternoon. Beautiful weather. The kind that makes you walk a little slower, breathe a little deeper, and pretend the day has nowhere urgent to be.

I picked up a coffee, still half-dreaming, when the young boy behind the counter smiled and said, “Have a great weekend!”

I smiled back.

A long weekend, apparently.

Is it?

For most people, perhaps. A little extra time. A sleep-in. Lunches that turn into dinners. Plans made around sunshine and the luxury of not having to check emails.

My long weekend looks a little different.

I’m a shift worker on a fixed roster. Nights through till Monday. While the rest of the world is winding down, I’ll be clocking in. While someone else is socializing till late on a Friday evening and waking up slowly to Saturday morning coffee, I’ll probably be somewhere under fluorescent lights, negotiating with the strange elasticity of time that only exists on night shift.

So yes, young man.

Have a great weekend.

I intend to. Just not quite in the conventional sense.

Perhaps my weekend is this coffee.

This beautiful morning.

The walk home in good weather.

The few quiet hours before the night begins.

And maybe that is the trick with weekends—or life, really.

You don’t always get the weekend you were promised.

Sometimes you make your own little version of it between shifts.

A coffee and me moment.

I travel, engineer, write, make art, and ride. Curiosity being the common thread.
Medium is simply where it spills into words—a quiet brain dump of thoughts that refused to stay inside.
Thank you for reading!
