Cycling: A Journey Beyond the Road

For me, cycling is more than just getting from one place to another — it’s a lifestyle, a passion, and a way to share stories. Each ride feels like a celebration of freedom, nature, and the human spirit. Whether I’m riding through the tranquil farmlands of Hesarghatta, the rolling hills of Nandi, or the vibrant birding spots in Bangalore, every trip brings a unique experience and a story worth sharing.

Through my blog, My Tales on Wheels, I aim to document these journeys and inspire others to embrace cycling — not just as a hobby, but as a meaningful way of life.

Why Cycling?

Cycling offers so much more than fitness. It’s a way to connect with the environment, reduce our carbon footprint, and find joy in simple things. Every time I choose my bicycle over a car, I’m contributing to cleaner air, quieter roads, and a healthier planet. In a bustling city like Bangalore, where traffic congestion is an everyday struggle, cycling is a sustainable and practical solution.

Cycling to Work

Switching to a bicycle for my daily commute has been a game-changer. It saves time, energizes my mornings, and adds a sense of accomplishment to my day. Starting the day with a refreshing ride instead of being stuck in traffic has made a huge difference to my physical and mental well-being.

Memorable Rides

One recent ride that stands out was on Independence Day. Along with fellow cyclists, I rode to a village in Ramanagara. We ended the ride by distributing school supplies and celebrating with the children there. It was a powerful reminder of how cycling connects us with people and places in the most genuine way.

Health and Happiness on Two Wheels

Cycling has been transformative for my health. It’s a great workout for the body — building endurance, improving cardiovascular health, and strengthening muscles. But beyond the physical benefits, cycling gives me mental clarity and peace. Long rides are my therapy, offering time to reflect and recharge.

Some of my most cherished rides are with my wife. We slow down to match her speed, using the time to chat about life, plans, and dreams. These moments remind me that cycling isn’t just about the destination — it’s about the journey.

Sharing the Joy

Through my blog, I share not only my experiences but also practical tips and route recommendations for fellow cyclists. Here are a few stories you might enjoy:

  • Birding by Bicycle: Discover how cycling has enhanced my birdwatching adventures across Bangalore’s scenic lakes and forests.
  • Pedaling to Mysore: Relive my first long-distance cycling trip to this historic city, filled with cultural richness and charm.
  • Cycling to Work: Learn how a bicycle commute can be both sustainable and invigorating.
  • Exploring Manne’s Ancient Ruins: Join me on a memorable ride as I explore a forgotten village and uncover the secrets of its ancient ruins.

Each story is a blend of adventure, inspiration, and practical tips for those who share my love for cycling — or are curious to try it.

If these stories inspire you, I invite you to explore more on my blog, My Tales on Wheels. Together, let’s pedal toward a healthier, more sustainable, and connected world.
