Red Hat Openshift 4.21 Highlights
In this document I will try to highlight some of the important items of Red Hat Openshift 4.21 version that was released in last February.
As you can see from official Openshift 4.21 Release Notes, there are many new features coming with 4.21 release, but I will focus mainly on features that applies to Openshift implementations on your own datacenters, not public cloud.
Note : This release uses Kubernetes 1.34 with CRI-O runtime.
New Features
Network policy support for Autoscaling Operators
Cluster autoscaler, vertical pod autoscaler (VPA), horizontal pod autoscaler (HPA) and cluster resource override operator now have “multiple network policies” to control traffic to and from these operators and operand pods. These policies will allow traffic if they are explicitly allowed or required.
Applying VPA recommendations without pod re-creation
With this release it will now be possible to configure the Vertical Pod Autoscaler (VPA) in InPlaceOrRecreate mode. If you use InPlaceOrRecreate mode, the VPA will attempt to use the updates without re-creating the pods. If in-place update is not possible, then VPA will fall back to using re-creation of pods to apply. Reference : Vertical Pod Autoscaler Operator modes
