Diary of a junior Engineer in a vibe coding world
august 2026, personal entry
These are the confessions of a junior engineer in a vibe coding world. But that description alone would be deceiving.
At university, I studied philosophy, informatics, and eventually did a master’s in artificial intelligence, so these entries will also contain the occasional ramblings of a slightly bitter ethicist and an overly excited philosopher.
Still, I suspect most people reading this blog will be software developers who are either just entering the field or already somewhere inside it.
So the main theme will be me trying to navigate this new job. I started in August and, oh boy.
I am obviously not going to give away identifying information, so everyone gets a nickname.
I started at Company Z at roughly the same time as a coworker I will call Pony.
And Pony is… somewhat looking for whoever he may be.
I am a little wary of him. There have already been a few incidents. He seems to need a lot of attention. I get it. Most of us do, to some degree. But I have a few little ticks and mannerisms, and he sometimes mimics them. Maybe he is trying to be funny. Maybe he is looking for validation. I honestly don’t know.
