After about 10000 years of what we call “human civilization,” the international community is still unable to secure medical supplies for 2 million trapped civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Not only in Gaza but also in Sudan, Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Uyghurs in China, Cuba, Congo, and many others. All of these are famines in the era of iPhones and Tesla cars.

In Sudan lies the most awful famine in the world, where 62% of the population — 28.9 million people — are facing extreme food insecurity and are trapped between the warring parties — the RSF and the Sudanese Army. Both are suspected of war crimes against the Sudanese people.

Since 2017, Rohingya Muslims have been facing a great famine and a genocide due to religious discrimination by the Buddhist majority — many Western experts consider Buddhism as the most tolerant religion in the world.

The Tatmadaw has committed several war crimes against Muslims, including sexual violence, forced starvation, and forced displacement, turning their cities into an open-air prison. In Congo, the “green revolution” is fueled by ruthless repression, leaving millions in abject poverty. Meanwhile, China subjects Uyghurs to a high-tech open-air prison, employing cultural genocide.

These atrocities prove that modern technology has only sophisticated tools of subjugation globally. FAO has the responsibility to stop all this suffering by having a world with no hunger or fear.
