Charlie Says…You’re a loser at Scrabble
“Dear Diary”, October 5th 2026
Legend has it that on 25th November 1980 at the Superdome in Louisiana, New Orleans, Panama’s Roberto Durán quit in the 8th round of his second of an eventual trilogy of era defining super-fights with American Sugar Ray Leonard by exclaiming “No Más” or “No More”. Whilst this has taken on a life of its own in subsequent years (Durán claimed he never said such a thing and was suffering from stomach cramps against a much faster American opponent ahead on points when he quit) this has no bearing on last evening’s Game 16 defeat at the hands of “The Redhead” in our World Scrabble Championship, and by a slim 17 points (289–272), but considering I now trail by 12 games to 4 maybe it does, and maybe I should prostrate myself at the Adidas clad feet of my beautiful opponent, sob a little, and just exclaim “No More”? I mean, is “EE” even a word? Who knew “YUZU” was a fruit? Will I ever win a damn game of Scrabble ever again?
Questions. Questions.
Pointless questions such as these rattled around my tiny mind as we settled down for the second instalment of our “B and B Film Club” and “Charlie Says” from 2018. Who knew Dr Who’s Matt Smith could play the CIA’s finest exponent of their MK Ultra mind control fuckwittery Charlie Manson?

Anyway, our Film Club is up and running with “Magnolia” and “Charlie Says” and Game 17 will be staged soon enough.
I’ll keep you posted.
“Dear Diary” is a new concept I’m running with for the new year. Short, punchy, irreverent, spoiler free, telling you everything and nothing about that day’s particular journal entry. Here’s today’s entry. Do check back in tomorrow. After you’ve tempted yourself with one of these beauties I self-published either side of Christmas 2025:
