When I’m struggling, I revisit motivational quotes that reframe my thoughts. As someone who doesn’t do well during season changes, especially from summer to fall, I often find myself in a slump.

I try to write, film, create, and post all kinds of content consistently, each day, but life happens. Something creeps up that prevents me from doing things I need to do.

Like this weekend, I had a family obligation and couldn’t even get to my laptop.

I’ll go through brief periods where I am out of ideas or can’t find words. Other times, my creative juices stop flowing, and I have to seek inspiration to get back into my groove.

Lately, I’ve been making time to read when I can’t create art. Reading or revisiting old motivational quotes pulls me out of a slump and forces me to reframe my thoughts.

Here are the eleven quotes below that instantly reframe my thinking:

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to enjoy, to love.” — Marcus Aurelius

“Your days are numbered. Use them to throw open the windows of your soul to the sun. If you do not, the sun will soon set, and you with it.” — Marcus Aurelius

“Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice.” — Wayne Dyer

“Make up your mind that no matter what comes your way, no matter how difficult, no matter how unfair, you will do more than simply survive. You will thrive despite it.” — Joel Osteen

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

“Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it, and eventually the confidence will follow.”— Carrie Fisher

“If you don’t make the time to work on creating the life you want, you’re eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don’t want.” — Kevin Ngo

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have”
— Maya Angelou

“Some people want it to happen, some people wish it would happen, others make it happen.” — Michael Jordan

“I always did something I was a little not ready to do. I think that’s how you grow. When there’s that moment of, ‘Wow, I’m not really sure I can do this,’ and you push through those moments, that’s when you have a breakthrough” — Marissa Mayer

“Challenges are gifts that force us to search for a new center of gravity. Don’t fight them. Just find a new way to stand.” — Oprah Winfrey

Concluding Thoughts

It’s easy to fall into a slump any time of year, no matter what season it is. When I’m feeling unmotivated or questioning if what I’m doing is worthwhile, the quotes above remind me that what I’m doing is, in fact, very worthwhile.

The quotes above also remind me of how precious time is.

How we think and spend our time matters. Reframe your thinking when you notice your motivation or desire to do the things you love begin slipping.

If you’re in a slump, take a moment to work on your thoughts and mindset. Most of our creative blocks or depressive thoughts come from irrational ways of thinking. Empowering words have the power to change our minds.
