Chapter 4, Episode 4: Learning to Eat Without Guilt Was Harder Than I Expected
Food was never just food ... it was a battleground where my emotions, fears, and control all collided.
After everything I’d been through, even the simplest things became complicated.
Eating was one of them.
I used to associate food with comfort, celebration, and life.
But when pain settled in, food turned into a source of guilt and shame.
Every bite felt heavy ... not just in my stomach, but in my heart.
I would eat and then replay it over and over in my mind.
Did I eat too much?
Should I have stopped earlier?
Why can’t I just have control like everyone else?
The constant self-judgment made meals stressful.
I found myself avoiding food or overeating ... trying to fill emptiness that nothing else seemed to touch.
It took time to realize that healing my relationship with food was part of healing my relationship with myself.
That eating without guilt was a radical act of self-love.
That honoring my body meant giving it what it needed, not punishing it for what it wanted.
Some days were easier than others.
Sometimes I failed.
But each time, I reminded myself: progress is not perfection.
Learning to eat without guilt wasn’t just about food ... it was about reclaiming joy, freedom, and kindness toward myself.
"Nourishing your body is an act of healing ... not a battle to be won."
